(Harrisburg, PA)—Brian L. Cashman, Sr., immediate past president of the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP) and principal of Susquehannock High School in the Southern York County School District, was honored as the outgoing president by his peers and invited guests at the fourteenth annual State Principals’ Conference in Pittsburgh. Mr. Cashman was presented with a plaque and a ring for his exemplary service to the association in 2005-2006 during the annual banquet held at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel on Sunday evening, October 29, 2006.

(Harrisburg, PA)—Dr. Barbara A. Rudiak, executive director, school management, K-5 elementary schools for the Pittsburgh School District, has assumed the position of President of the approximately 4,000-member Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP), headquartered in Summerdale, Pa.
PAESSP’s membership is comprised of elementary, middle level and secondary school principals, assistant principals and supervisors and is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Over 42 percent of principals and assistant principals in nine Northeastern states report that they will be retiring from their positions within the next five years according to a recent survey of over 3,200 elementary, middle and high school leaders, conducted by the Northeast Regional Elementary School Principals’ Council. The results were released at the council’s annual meeting in Providence, Rhode Island, on September 28-30, 2006. The states involved in the survey were Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

(Harrisburg, PA)— Jim Buckheit, the executive director of the State Board of Education (The State Board is the regulatory and policy-making board for basic and higher education in the Commonwealth), has been selected to receive the prestigious Educational Excellence Award for 2006 from the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP). Mr. Buckheit will be presented with the award in a special ceremony during the banquet at PAESSP’s Fourteenth Annual State Conference, Sunday, October 29, 2006, at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pa.
