National Companies to Fund Resident Practitioner Programs

Dr. Gerald Tirozzi, NASSP executive director, has announced that the Coca Cola Company has agreed to fund a Resident Practitioner for School-Business Partnerships, effective January 2003. According to Dr. Tirozzi, NASSP is negotiating with Coke to try to move the date up to September 1, 2002.

Prentice Hall and Pearson Education, Inc., have also agreed to fund a Resident Practitioner for Adolescent Literacy and Professional Development. NASSP is hoping to fill this position by August 2002.

Below you will find the position descriptions for these two new Resident Practitioner programs. Additionally, both positions are featured on the home page of the NASSP web site, www.nassp.org. Please note that the deadline for applications is July 5, 2002. Thank you for your assistance in this important matter.

NASSP is in the final stages of interviewing candidates for the Resident Practitioner for Testing and Assessment, and again, Dr. Tirozzi is optimistic that an appointment will be made by July 2002.

During the July National Leadership Assembly, Dr. Tirozzi is planning to discuss in greater detail the dramatic growth of NASSP’s resident practitioner program and the manner and extent to which these programs will be utilized to enhance the work of secondary school principals.
