Resident Practitioner for Business Partnerships
Job Description:
NASSP, with sponsorship from The Coca-Cola Company, seeks an outstanding, practicing secondary school principal to serve two years as a "Resident Practitioner" focused on Business Partnerships. The Resident Practitioner will have major responsibility to NASSP while working with representatives from The Coca-Cola Company. The individual may be based in his or her home community or at NASSP in Reston, Virginia. The Resident Practitioner’s salary will be paid by NASSP through the local school district, which must commit to granting a leave of absence and paying benefits. Candidates will need to demonstrate extensive experience building successful Business Partnerships. Ideal candidates will also have experience building business and education partnerships in order to amplify the voice of the school leader to various community constituencies (e.g. parents and school boards) about critical education issues such as the realities of implementing No Child Left Behind and the expected impact on student achievement, budgets, teacher quality and the need for the principal to allocate more time to instructional issues. The ideal candidate will lead national discussion and professional development with middle level and secondary school principals on how to build business/education partnerships in order to increase principals’ effectiveness as instructional leaders. Additional training in these areas will be provided by NASSP at the beginning of the two-year assignment.
The Resident Practitioner will work with NASSP members and affiliates nationwide around issues of Business Partnerships as well as accountability as it relates to principals and secondary schools. Specifically, the s/he will:
The Resident Practitioner will spend a significant percentage of time traveling in the field, working with state affiliates and various regional membership groups providing expert service and consultation.
