PSBA - Whose Responsibility Is It: Tools for a Successful Team of 10 Workshop - February 2005

Whose Responsibility is It: TOOLS FOR A SUCCESSFUL TEAM OF 10

February 2-24, 2005

Accountability for student achievement has become the number one focus in public education. Instead of just providing free public education as in the past, school boards and superintendents (Team of 10) now must demonstrate results and justify expenditures. This awesome task is fertile ground for minor skirmishes or major chasms among the team as they attempt to reach consensus in accomplishing this goal.

By attending this workshop, members of your team will take back to the school district:

    · Ways to articulate the district's vision on what and how students

    learn.

    · What boards and superintendents should expect from each other.

    · How to clarify and respect governance and management roles.

    · Characteristics of high-performing teams.

    · An understanding of why superintendent evaluations and board

    self-assessments are important.

Board members and chief school administrators are encouraged to attend.

Presenters:

Pamela M. Price, director of board development services, and Mary C. Rosenkrans, inservice education associate.
