Tar Wars Poster Contest Gets Underway

Tar Wars is a state health program educating 4th and 5th graders on the hazards of tobacco. The program targets elementary school districts throughout the Commonwealth. Physicians, medical residents and students volunteer their time to visit elementary schools to educate students on the hazards of using tobacco.  At the end of the school year, the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians and Foundation conducts a state poster contest during their Annual Meeting. This year, the meeting is in Gettysburg. The contest is on Saturday, June 1, 2002.

Last Call for Tar Wars Posters

All Tar Wars posters must be submitted to the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians Foundation by Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in order to be included in the statewide Tar Wars Poster Contest to be held Saturday, June 1. One poster per school. Mail your school's winning poster to PA Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, 2704 Commerce Drive, Suite A, Harrisburg, PA  17110. Pennsylvania's winning poster usually places toward the top at the national poster contest, and the winning 2001 Pennsylvania poster was featured on national Tar Wars T-shirts. This could bring your local school national attention.  Don't miss the deadline!
