   The Penn State Harrisburg Middle Level Conference will be held on Monday, October 14, 2002, at Yellow Breeches Middle School, South Middleton School District, Boiling Springs, Pa.

   This one-day conference is designed to provide an opportunity for middle school teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents to exchange knowledge, insights, and experiences; learn practical applications; examine successful programs; and network with colleagues.

   The 40 concurrent session workshops address a variety of topics, including: at-risk students, state standards, family and community involvement, motivating students, interdisciplinary and thematic units and curriculum.

   Keynote speaker, Edward T. Frye, Ph.D., former executive director of the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, and now a full-time educational consultant, has helped countless school staff design, implement, supervise and evaluate curriculum reform and restructuring efforts. His areas of specialization are organizational leadership and development, the creation of desirable educational futures and the positioning of schools in today’s marketplace environment.
