PA Department of Education Distinguished Educator Initiative

Providing district supports and targeted intervention is a crucial component of Pennsylvania’s Accountability System. The Distinguished Educator (DE) initiative is one strategy the department is using to provide direct assistance to districts.

Distinguished Educators will work with struggling districts as part of a team to build capacity and to provide assistance aimed at improving student achievement.  DE's can be current or retired administrators, teachers, specialists and consultants with a wide range of experience and expertise.  Distinguished Educators may serve as full-time members of a core team focused on instructional leadership or as specialists brought into the team to provide specific assistance based on targeted needs.

DEs will be selected through a multiple-step application process.
