Senate Bill 1572

Ø                   Tremendous shortage of administrators.

Ø                   Job searches are re-opened several times to fill principal vacancies.

Ø                   Teachers continue to earn administrative credentials; however, they do not seek administrative posts.

Ø                   The average teacher work year is 187 days; the average principal work year is 230 days.

Ø                   Currently the retirement system (PSERS) still bases one year of credit on 180 days.

Ø                   Senate Bill 1572 would provide an enhanced annuity credit for administrators who work a longer year – appropriately weighing the credit depending on the length of the work year.
