Attention PAESSP Members:
You Can Win a Valuable Scholarship to Attend
an Important Seminar
If you register for any of the four upcoming PAESSP Workshops (May Workshop in two locations: "Principals' Guide to Hiring: Attracting the Best" or either of the Principals' Leadership Academies, Part I or Part II) by April 30, 2003, your name will be placed in a drawing to win one of 10 scholarships to attend an upcoming "Dr. Larry Lezotte" seminar.
This two-day seminar (a $150 value), "Continuous Improvement Based on Effective Schools Research that Leaves No Child Behind," is sponsored by the Capital Area Intermediate Unit and is scheduled for May 20-21, 2003 at Central Pennsylvania College in Summerdale, Pa.
The "No Child Left Behind" legislation has set this unambiguous mission every school in America. The public education system has not reached this goal in the past, is currently not reaching it, and is not likely to reach it by the deadline without systemic change and strong leadership.
Clearly the mission of public education changed with the passage of this new legislation. We know that whatever the aim or function of a system changes, the form must also change. The current system of public education was never designed or even intended to successfully teach all students to a proficient standard.
The scholarship will include speaker fees, materials and meals ($150 value), but the individuals are responsible for their own travel expenses, including hotel accommodations.
For more information, please contact the PAESSP office at (717) 732-4999. Scholarship winners will be notified after April 30th by telephone.
