The Pennsylvania
Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP) is organizing
a 25-member task force for the purpose of developing an association position
paper concerning the impacts of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) along with recommendations for revisions
for the federal reauthorization bill. The task force will consist of two
PAESSP board members and 23 members at large. The association wants to
ensure that all geographic areas of the Commonwealth are represented as well as
large and small schools and urban, suburban and rural districts. The task
force will include elementary, middle and high school administrators.
Dr. Joseph Yarworth, retired superintendent of the
Muhlenberg
School District
and professor of school leadership at
Albright
College
, will act as facilitator. The only group meeting will be held on April 26
in
Harrisburg
. Subsequent meetings, if necessary, will be conducted via teleconference. PAESSP
will pay travel expenses and meals for the April 26 meeting. Individuals
traveling more than two hours each way will be provided overnight hotel
accommodations upon request. The final document will be shared with
Pennsylvania
legislators, the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education and
Pennsylvania
’s congressional and senatorial delegation. The PAESSP Executive Committee
will meet with the
Pennsylvania
congressional and senatorial delegation in July.
