During the four-day conference, students will gain valuable leadership skills, experiencing what it takes to build an effective team. Some of the sessions include identifying personal leadership styles, communicating effectively within teams, working within and recruiting diverse teams, and developing effective business plans. Near the end of the conference, student teams will participate in a "Building Bridges" session and will learn effective methods of working through conflicts during the "Conflict Resolution" seminar.

   By the close of the Institute, each team will have developed a project action plan to positively impact school and/or community climate, which the team will implement their junior years after expanding team membership.

   Each invited school has been asked to send a diverse team of students. The benefit of team-building with a high school panel of diverse membership serving as leaders is that the students' implementation of the service project within their school or home community will serve to promote inter-group harmony among various factions within the school population.
